Q: I have a sliding screen door that needs rescreening. I'm not home during the weekdays because I work 8-5. Can you help?
A: Yes! We can repair the screen door without you being there. Just leave a check or send payment via Zelle when you return.
Q: How long do screens last?
A: Standard screen mesh can last 7 - 15 years before it starts to breakdown and shed the black vinyl coating. Window screens that are in the shade and cleaned often, last longer.
Q: We have a hinged screen door that the screen mesh is constantly being pushed out of the frame. How can we stop this from happening?
A: Yes that's a frequent complaint with hinged screen doors that use an auto closer or pull the screen door closed automatically. Many auto closers are too strong and close the door too fast resulting in the screen mesh getting pushed out by someone's arm or elbow just trying to hold the door open.
The easy fix is to remove the auto door closure and manually open and close the screen door using the door handle. Works great and the mesh will never push out again!
Q: Can window screens be removed from the outside of the house?
A: All window screens are designed to be removed from the inside the house and some screens can be removed from the outside. Window screens are all designed a little different depending on the manufacture.
Q; There are birds outside our windows pecking at the screens and making holes in them! Can you rescreen them with stronger mesh?
A: Window screen mesh deteriorates over years of exposure to the sun. The black vinyl coating falls away exposing the the brittle fiberglass threads. The crafty birds are pulling off pieces of the fiberglass to use in their nests. Rescreening with standard mesh will solve the problem.
Q: Our screen porch needs all new screens. Do you do that?
A: Yes we specialize in patio, porch and gazebo rescreening.
Q: We have 1 slider and 14 windows to rescreen. Are there different colors of screen mesh to choose from?
A: Yes. Screen mesh is available in light grey and charcoal black. Charcoal screen mesh is far less visible and appears like a light shadow over your window. Brighter color screen like grey and silver are very noticeable and have reduced see through visibility. We recommend charcoal color screen mesh.
Q: How do I identify screen mesh?
A: Screen mesh is identified by the number of openings per square inch in the mesh fabric. Standard screen mesh is typically 18x16, meaning there are 18 openings horizontally and 16 opening vertically per square inch of mesh.
Q: Should I clean my screens? How?
A: Yes you should clean your screens often because it extends the life of your screens and they get filthy dirty! Use a soft brush with a little dish soap and warm water to gently wash away the grime. Clean window screens will keep your windows cleaner longer.
Please Note! Take caution with open windows and doors if children and pets are present. Screen mesh is a barrier to small bugs and flying insects only. Screen mesh will not stop a child from falling through an open window or a determined pet from pushing or chewing through a screen door!
